Description

A delicious pastry roll filled with beef, bacon, and cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook Bacon: In a frying pan, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the pan, crumble, and set aside.
  3. Prepare Beef Filling: In the same pan, add olive oil. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat from the pan. Mix in crumbled bacon and half of the cheddar cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted and combined.
  4. Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface. Spoon the beef mixture evenly across the pastry. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
  5. Roll and Seal: Carefully roll the pastry over the filling to form a log. Seal the edges by pressing firmly. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  6. Egg Wash: Brush the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Thawing Puff Pastry: Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before using to prevent cracking.
  • Vegetarian Option: Substitute beef with a vegetarian mince and omit bacon.
  • Extra Flavor: Add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper to the beef for an extra kick.
