Instructions
- Peel and slice the onions into thin, uniform pieces for even cooking.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat until melted.
- Add the onions and sprinkle with salt, stirring to coat them in the fat.
- Cook slowly, stirring every few minutes, for 30 to 45 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Add water if needed to deglaze the pan and prevent burning.
