Description

A traditional Kashmiri drink made with green tea leaves and spices.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri green tea leaves
  • 0 tsp baking soda
  • 4 green cardamom pods (lightly crushed)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp crushed pistachios (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 cups of water and add green tea leaves and crushed cardamom pods.
  2. Sprinkle in baking soda; mixture will foam. Boil 15–20 minutes.
  3. Add 2 cups cold water to shock the tea. Boil another 15–20 minutes.
  4. Add whole milk and stir until the tea turns pink.
  5. Add salt, simmer 5–7 minutes, and serve hot with pistachios.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of salt to your taste.
  • Crushed pistachios can be added for garnish.
