Description

A delicious and filling lasagna made with layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheese mixture.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 egg
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook Noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare Meat Sauce:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened.
    • Add ground beef, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
    • Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper.
    • Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Prepare Cheese Mixture:
    • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  5. Assemble Lasagna:
    • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
    • Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
    • Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
    • Add a layer of meat sauce, then a layer of mozzarella cheese.
    • Repeat layers, ending with noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
    • Sprinkle remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Bake:
    • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
    • Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Serve:
    • Let lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving.
    • Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the meat sauce.
  • Use fresh basil leaves if available for a more vibrant taste.
  • Consider using a mix of ground beef and Italian sausage for a richer flavor.
  • Letting the lasagna rest before slicing helps it hold its shape better.
