Description

A classic and delightful banana pudding dessert with layers of creamy pudding, ripe bananas, and vanilla wafers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 package (5 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pudding Mixture:
    – In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk. Whisk together for about 2 minutes, or until the pudding begins to thicken.
    – Stir in the sweetened condensed milk until smooth and well combined.
    – Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours, or until set. For best results, refrigerate overnight.
  2. Whip the Cream:
    – In a separate mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the vanilla extract.
  3. Assemble the Dessert:
    – In a large serving dish or trifle bowl, spread a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom.
    – Add a layer of sliced bananas on top of the wafers.
    – Spread a layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
    – Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the pudding.
    – Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  4. Garnish:
    – Decorate the top with additional slices of banana and crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers.
    – Optionally, add a dollop of whipped cream to finish.
  5. Chill and Serve:
    – Cover and refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 2-3 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • For added texture, toast the vanilla wafers lightly before assembling.
  • Ensure the pudding is well set before adding it to the layers to maintain structure.
  • This dessert can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator for convenience.
