Description

A deliciously moist chocolate cake infused with the flavors of strawberries and topped with decadent glazes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
  4. Carefully stir in the hot water until you have a smooth batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  9. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate in a bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes, then stir until smooth.
  10. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Once the cake is cool, drizzle the chocolate glaze over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
  12. Follow with the white glaze, drizzling over the cake.
  13. Decorate with fresh strawberry slices and chocolate sprinkles.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting.
  • You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate with dark or milk chocolate according to your preference for the glaze.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, add a teaspoon of instant coffee granules to the cake batter.
  • Keep the cake covered at room temperature to maintain its moisture.
