Description

A delicious and hearty casserole made with crispy fries, seasoned beef, and plenty of cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen French fries
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cheese sauce
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or chives for garnish
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Spread the frozen French fries evenly on a baking sheet. Bake them in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until crispy.
  3. While the fries are baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  5. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  7. Once the fries are crispy, transfer them to a large casserole dish.
  8. Layer the cooked ground beef over the fries.
  9. Sprinkle crumbled bacon evenly on top.
  10. Drizzle the cheese sauce over the mixture.
  11. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top to cover the casserole.
  12. Place the casserole in the preheated oven. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  14. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives.
  15. Serve with optional toppings like sour cream, salsa, or jalapeños.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle taco seasoning on the beef while cooking.
  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Customize your toppings to suit your taste preferences.
  • Make it spicier by adding hot sauce or cayenne pepper.
