Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Water, Warm
  • 2 packets Quick-Rising Yeast
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 5 cups Flour
  • 1/4 cup Wheat Germ
  • 1 1/4 cups Dates, Chopped
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 3/4 cup Walnuts, Chopped
  • 1 cup Apples, Peeled & Cubed
  • 3 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Honey

Instructions

  1. Make the apple filling by bringing apples, water, and honey to a boil in a small sauce pan. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate small sauce pan, make the date paste by bringing chopped dates, water, salt, and honey to a boil. Simmer until the mixture is like paste. Remove from heat and stir in chopped walnuts and the apple mixture. Set aside.
  3. Make the bread dough by adding warm water, yeast packets, and honey to a large bowl. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Add in oil, salt, flour, and wheat germ. Stir together.
  5. Knead for 5-10 minutes, until smooth.
  6. Place in oiled bowl.
  7. Let rise until double in size.
  8. Spray 2 bread pans with non-stick spray. Set aside.
  9. Divide bread dough in half. Roll out each half on floured surface.
  10. Divide apple paste mixture and spread evenly between them. Roll up tightly.
  11. Place rolled up dough in each pan. Let rise until double in size.
  12. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  13. When ready, bake for 40 minutes.
